To be eligible for the Teachers Mutual credit card, you need to meet the standard requirements most banks ask for. You must be over 18 years of age, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and a member of the bank.
If you’re not a member yet, you’ll need to qualify to become one. Don’t worry, we’ll explain what you need to do.
If you’re already a long-time customer, log in to internet banking or visit a branch where one of the team members can guide you.
If you’ve just discovered this card and want to apply now, here’s what you’ll need.
Make Sure You’re Eligible:
- Are you over 18? That’s the first requirement ticked off.
- Do you have a valid form of ID? Acceptable forms include your passport, driver’s licence, or Medicare card.
- Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident with a verifiable address in the country?
- Lastly, you need to fall into one of the following categories: you’re employed or retired from the education sector, currently studying, or have graduated with an education degree from an Australian university, or you’re a close relative of a Teachers Mutual Bank member.
Can I Increase My Limit?
The card can start with a minimum limit of $1,000 and go up to $25,000 depending on the bank’s assessment.
If you want to increase your spending power, you can request a form to apply for a credit limit increase. However, keep in mind that approval isn’t automatic. The bank will review whether the request is justified and if you have the financial capacity to manage the new limit.
If you always make your payments on time, your limit may naturally increase over time.
Is It Safe to Apply Online?
Absolutely! Teachers Mutual Bank has a fully secure platform, and the credit card itself is backed by important security layers.
You can trust the technology used to prevent fraud and monitor your transactions, from the application process to purchases made in-store with a chip, online, or via contactless payments.
